Perimeter math evidence

I have been learning to calculate the perimeter and area of shapes and irregular shapes. I found it hard at the start until I got the hang of it.My next step is to get the right measurements on the shapes.

Youth town

Last term Room 19 had been going to youth town every Tuesday.
Youth town is a sports program that come to your school and teach you new sport and games that you may have not heard or played before. We played sport like basketball and hockey and we played games similar golden child.

Maths evidence

I have been learning how to solve problems using PVP.  I was able to add the hundreds tens and ones easily because i know my addition well.  Next I want to learn to do PVP with more advanced problems.

I was able to go back to the story and locate the important information.

I found it tricky to understand what the question was trying to tell me to do.

Next time I have to read the question carefully and try to have a specific answer.

Dear Mrs Plowright

I am writing to you because I  agree with you about not keeping the school holidays.

Firstly I believe that when we have school holidays children forget what they have learnt over the term because there are too busy having fun.  I feel that Saturday and Sunday is a long enough break for kids because they have the six week holidays anyway.

Our  parents don’t always have the time to look after us in the holidays they already have a lot of things to do at work and at home.

our teachers don’t need two weeks to think of a great project for their class and that’s why they have breaks of teaching.

I hope I have  persuaded you to have no school holidays.

We have been learning to use persuasive words in our writing. I found it easy to think of the persuasive words but hard to find were i could put it. Next time I want to learn how to use punctuation in my writing as well as persuasive words.

Walt : Identify what humans need to survive.

In room 19 we have been researching the basic needs that humans need for survival.  We used websites to find this information and then we created an imovie to explain this information to the class.

I was able to find the important ideas about the 5 basic needs that we need to survive.I was also able to write the important facts/ideas in my own words so that I could understand what I was writing.

In my group I think I co-operated really well so that everyone had a chance speaking and sharing.Next time i need to make sure that we are organized because we took quiet along time to finish.

Basic Facts

I am really proud of my score even though I didn't get 100. but I think I need to pratice my division and my 9 x tables .

I am happy of my results even though I did get a lower score.  I think the reason that I got a lower score is because i tried to do a new strategy by doing the hard ones first and the easy ones last.  But it didn't work because i took a bit long trying to figure them out.  Next time I am going to stick with my old strategy by doing the ones I know first and the hard ones last.

I am super happy with my result also because I got higher then last time but i still lower than my march score.
I need to practice my 7x tables.  My next step is to get higher than my march score.

Im super proud of my score i got i tried a new strategy similar to my last one. I try to answer all of them but in the rows they are put in. I think I am going to stick with that stratergy because i got a  higher score than last time. i got 94 witch is 16 more than  June.

Im happy with my score even though i only got one point higher but at least i got higher my next step is to get over 95.

I got the near the same score as last time i got 96 even though it wasn't much of an improvement at least i got one point higher my goal for next month is to get over 97

I did not get over 97 yet but Im still happy because this time we only gave us 5 minutes 30.That means I can still get near the same score even with a 30 second difference.My next step for November is to get all  of the equations  right by working hard on my  times tables because the times tables are the equations i get stuck on.

Walt : plot fractions on a number line

I was able to identify the numerator on a fraction and I understand the bigger the numerator the larger the fraction.  I understand that a unit fraction is when the numerator is always 1.

Next time I will practise making improper fractions because sometimes I get confused making the whole numbers as well as the fraction.

WALT :  create a piece of zentangle art using different patterns and using analogous colours.

I was able to use analogous colours. 

My next step is to think of more patterns so I don't keep on repeating the same patterns.

Walt : actively seek to extend my knowledge of new vocabulary and words that mean the same.

I was able to replace words that I didn’t know with synonyms that I thought meant the same eg. evaluate with decide/judge.

Next time I will try and use some of the new vocabulary that I have learnt in my writing.

In writing this term we have been trying to use interesting vocab eg
crying to sobbing.

I learnt how to use personification witch is when you give an animal or an object a human quality.

Next time I will try brain storm my ideas so i don,t have to keep on changing the sentences.

Term 1 Maths Evidence

In maths I have been learning to improve my knowledge and understanding of numbers.
I was able to round my numbers really well because I find rounding quite easy because I know the number rounding rules.
Next time I want to improve on ordering numbers up to 100,000 because I got
a bit confused at the end.

Reading Evidence Term 1 - Friends

My Reflection

We have been reading the story “Friends” by Joy Cowley.    Writing questions and asking questions are important because they help me understand what I am reading better.

I have learnt there are 4 different sorts of questions and they are think and search, on my own, author and me and right there. I was able to use detail because instead of they I did Snake and Lizard.

Next time I will try to write questions like on my own and author and questions.

Room 6 Buddy Class


Room 6 is our buddy class for 2016.  Every week we have been meeting our buddies and have shared stories with them, had a shared lunch under the tree and we found out some secret information about them and designed some bookmarks to give them.

I really enjoy visiting my buddy because she's super kind.

Writing Reflection

I have written a Kennings Poem about me so that other people in the class got to know more information about me. In our poem we brainstormed different ideas about ourselves.

I was able to use year six quirky words to describe my self.

My next step I was able to use interesting adjectives to describe myself eg. year 6 quirky words.
